About Me
Rashmi Deshmukh completed her MBBS from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences with the Chancellor's Award for outstanding academic performance. Further, she chose to train in ophthalmology at JIPMER, Pondicherry and received the University Gold Medal for being the best resident. Dr Deshmukh developed an interest in refractive surgery and cornea while being an international scholar at the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, USA. She then pursued a two-year Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), formal fellowship in Refractive Surgery, Cornea and Cataract Surgery at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. She was on the faculty of Centre for Sight, New Delhi for two years before she was selected for a clinical and research fellowship program in cornea and ocular surface at the University of Nottingham. Subsequently, she pursued a senior clinical fellowship in Cornea and Cataract at the Cambridge University Hospitals.
Dr Deshmukh is a Diplomate of the National Board and an AIOS FAICO in Refractive Surgery. She is keen on academics and translational research, and currently, her research work focuses on refractive surgery, corneal ectatic disorders and corneal imaging. She has published many peer-reviewed manuscripts and several book chapters. Dr Rashmi Deshmukh has received several prestigious awards for her work in national and international conferences.
